'He did not intend to reiterate what had/already been 1 said on several occasions during the last few weeks concerning Mr Banner’s capabilities and popularity; but \voiild give members the opportunity of adding a few words. Mr Banner forestalled any speeches by remarking that; he thought, his worth had.been somewhat exaggerated at the various little ftinction9 held in his honour. His associations with the Caledonian Society had been of a most pleasant nature, the members of the •executive had' pulled together harmoniously arid had given him every assistance at all times. The society was now in a better position that it had ever been .but, from experience, lie had found thiit the most dangerous period of an organisation was when it had reache'd^h.e'zenittt of its power. Most its ad- ' othCTwise'- a backward. was liatte 'to take place. The Motueki , Caledonian Society wax in a prosperous condition; and advancing; He would- endeavour each, year to be present 1 at its gatherings. ■■-•.•rijirt Brough,? • supported by Mr J.
