LADi r SIMON'S APPEAL LONDON. 29th Dec. "There are at least 4,000,000 slaves in tiie world to-day," said Lady Simon, wife of the Liberal leader. Sir John Simon, speaking at Bath. "Our first task is to set them free; mir second to secure the complete abolition of slave-owning systems in all forms. Our success in setting [free 200,000 slaves in Sierra Leone proves that public opinion is all powerful. "Everyone knows slavery is a black stain on the record of humanity.
