NELSON PROVINCIAL CHAMPION SHIPS SOME HARD-FOUGHT GAMES i ' In the various games played in continuation of the -Nelson Provincial lawn tennis championship meeting iMjme hardfought contests have been witnessed. One of the best was in the combined championship doubles between Miss Lenz and Cannington and Miss Hayes and Snodgrass. The first set went to 14-12 'in favour of Snodgrass; but in the second Cannington won easily 6-0. The third and last set was more even, however, and was won by Cannington 6-4. Some splendid rallies were witnessed, and the. game was a gruelling one. Snodgrass at time? did some brilliant smashing ; while Cannington has seldom been seen to more advantage. Both Miss Hayes ami Miss Lenz were extremely steady, and sewed their lull share, of, points. In tin- combined handicap doubles Miss Tracey (bolder of the ladies' single (championship*) and Hodgson played 'Miss Hayes and Snodgrass, each owe 15.
