TO BRIGHTEN CHRISTMAS

(To the Editor)

Sir,—We are again looking for a happy Christmas. Are we doing what wo can to brighten the season for those who will spend it in the various orphanages and other public institutions ? Whakarewa, St. Andrews, Old Folks’ Home, Richmond Home, St. Mary’s Orphanage, Hospital, Asylum, and perhaps others, have inmates who 'would appreciate a, little extra'share of good things. I suggest that an effort be made to give ©Very inmate on Christmas Eve, at least half-a-crown, to obtain some little luxury or pleasure otherwise unobtainable. This to supplement the kindly effort made in the past. If one or more -would be responsible for each- institution it could be done. I now ask for 30 half-crowns for Whakarewa. I am, etc., W, H. BRYANT. Ist December.
