• QUARTERLY REPORT (From our own Coriespoudeut) At the recent meeting of (ho Takaka. Goldcr, Bay branch of (ho New Zealand Farmers' Onion, the president, Mr R. C. Nalder, presided. The .quarterly report, was presented and contained Jho following information:—• The representatives of the union, aided by -Messrs Girling and Hudson, M's.P., have secured (ho appointment of an assistant agricultural instructor for tho area controlled by Mr Greenwood. The assistant instructor, Mr Stratford, who is a gold medallist from Lincoln College, has paid a visit to this district and it is to be hoped the farmers will co-operate with the instructors. The committee also forwarded a protest to the Acclimatisation Society about (he poisoning of opossums, it being considered that such a practice is highly dangerous to stock grazing oyer country that has been worked by poisoners. It is estimated that a canvass of the district by Messrs C P. Reilly and Cooper will add about 25 members to this branch of tho union. The report further dealt with a visit to Takaka of members of the Nelson Provincial Executive and a lecture delivered by Mr Fish (Provincial President).
