SALE OF WORK

Tiie annual sale of work under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church Ladies’ Guild was held in the Horticultural Hall on Friday and proved to be a very successful function.

■There was a large attendance of the public, particularly in the evening; and the stalls attractively arranged with tempting wares were well patronised. During the evening the Motueka Brass Band and the Orchestral Society rendered selections to an appreciative audience.

Stalls and stall-holders were :—Cake stall, Mrs N. Boss and Miss Kingsland ; work stall, Mesdamcs King, W. Drummond and W. Andrews; sweets stall, Misses, M. and N. Morrison ; produce, Mesdamcs J. Brough and P. Moffatt; cooked foods, Mesdames G. Budden and T. Ovens; Christmas tree and doll, Mrs G. Tillson and Miss J. Moffatt; afternoon teas, Mesdamcs A. E. Fry, A. Talbot and Beg. Bowling. Messrs A. Talbot and J. Heath were in charge of the shooting gallery. Competitions and winners were:—Doll (donated hy Mrs G. Tillson), yon by Mr Humble, Tasman; iced cake (donated by Mrs W. J. Pruning), won by Mrs H: Maiioy; sucking pig and vegetables (donated by Mrs Stnpples), won by Mrs F. Clark, Riwaka; box of confectionery (donated by Misses M. and N. Morrison), won by Mrs S. J. Wilson; shooting gallery, ladies (tray cloth), won by Mrs J. Thomson; men (doll), won by Mr J. Heath.

CRICKET ASSOCIATION In the junior match, Motueka v. Ngatimoti, played at Motueka on Saturday, the former defeated the visitors by i 3 runs.

The best scorers were: Sexton 28 not out, Moffatt 12 not out (Motueka); Canton 23, Thorn 15 (Ngatimoti).
