BIG SLIP

MAIN LINE BLOCKED

(United Press Association) PUKEKOHE, Tliis Day The main trunk line three-quarters of a mile north of Paerata Junction and 27 miles south of Auckland is blocked bv a huge slip which came down about 3'o'clock this morning. All traffic is held up. Gangs were organised and work commenced early this morning to clear the line, tra.inloads of men hurrying to the spot from Auckland and Huntly. It will probably be laic tonight before the line is clear. The northbound express is held at Paerata, but arrangements were made to tranship the passengers and mails to a relief train north of the A small slip occurred in this cutting last year and the country hereabout- has been'giving trouble for some years. This is the fourth or fifth landslide since the route of the permanent way was altered to improve the grade.
