CANADIAN VISITORS
ARRIVAL FROM BLENHEIM SOCCER MATCH TO-MORROW The Canadian touring Soccer team arrived in Nelson from Blenheim shortly help he I p.m. td-ttiif, and aje Maying' at lire Commercial Udti'l. The s isilors were heartily welcomed by Mr J. H. Parker (president) and members of tlip committee of Hie Nelson Football Association. Air Sanders (Wellington) of the New Zealand Council is travelling with the team. At the Municipal Chambers at f> p.m. the Canadians will he accorded a civic reception. Mr Adams, manager of the. team, who is accompanied by Mrs Adams, Inform-! ed a "Mail” representative today that the learn had a pleasant run through from Blenheim. The Wangarnoa Hill had no terrors to the Canadians, as in their own country many of the highways are of a much more dangerous nature. All the members of the team so far have had a, most enjoyable trip. (Further reference to the Canadians will be found on page 7 of this issue.) THE TEAMS The Nelson team is: Goal A. Several of the team! are suffering from minor injuries; but, j it is expected that a strong eombination | will take the field against Nelson. Referee, Mr J. H. Parker; Linesman. Mr G. Piper. MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE A meeting of the management committee of the Nelson Football Association was hold in the Academy of Music Rooms on Monday. There were present: Messrs J. 11. Parker (chairman), Claughton, Berry, Piper, Hurst, Walteis, Smith, Bate, McKenzie, Charlton, and the secretary (Mr Coxhill). Final arrangements were made regarding the meeting of the Canadian Football team, and for the civic reception of the visitors. The balance sheet of the Nelson team’s visit to Blenheim on 3rd June was read and adopted, and the team congratulated upon the display given. A message was received from E. Beveridge thanking the Association for their good wishes upon his leaving for England. A telegram was received from the New Zealand Association appointing Mr ”■ Parker referee for the Canadian match. Several accounts were passed for payment. f CANADIANS v. MARLBOROUGH ! VISITORS WIN 11 TO NIL (United Press Association) BLENHEIM, This Day. Iho Canadians defeated Marlborough by 11 goals to nil. The game was play-! ed in showery weather. Despite the greasy ground and heavy ball the visitors gave a pleasing display of scientific soccer, completely outclassing the homeside, which lacked aggressiveness and combination. For the Canadians, Turner (3), Royson, Thomson and Archibald (2 eacn), and Williams and Milligan scored. ,
