AMBERLEY CUP
(By Telegraph.—Special to “The Mail.”)
CITRTSTCHURCH, 711. May
In winning the. Amberley Clip under 8.8 Sir Roy was called on to do iiis very best, and the manner in which lie finished suggests bis being more than a useful performer over middle distances and under a high scale of weights. He was well placed all (lie way. He bad to enriie on the outside in the straight, and he wore down his opponents _ by sheer gntneness and F. F. Jones s vigorous rilling. Some few months ago Sir Rov was under offer at a very reasonable figure in a Dunedin sportsman who must now be regretting the fact that- hefailed to recognise a real bargain.
