* AUCKLAND 27th' Dec. 7* For the" £ISOO Great Northern Foal Stakes there were nine starters. Cimafeue carried over twice as much 'as 'Laughing Prince, while the bracket, •Agrion and Eulalie, only had about £IBO less than Laughing Prince, with Royal Geres next in demand. Gasfcony, Cimabue, Royal Ceres and Eulalie were 'the first td become prominent; and before going a furlong Cirriabue ran to the 'front from Gascony, Eulalie, Royal Ceres, Laughing Prince, Agrion, Ruanui and Thaw, with Talisker last, The latter was slow at the start. Cimabue led into the straight from Eulalie and Gascony. At the distance, Gascony (E. A. TCeesing) came through, on the inside while Agrion came .fast on the outside and in a great finish Gascony got the decision by a head from Agrion .who beat Cimabue by a neck. Eulalie was fourth; then came Royal Ceres, Riuaiiui, Laughing Prince, Thaw and Talisker. The winner is trained by F. Davis at Woodville for Mr T. H. Lowry.

Tanadees, Te Monanui, and Clarinda were together next, with Te Kara, Count Cavour and Town Bank in a line just behind. Kamehameha was still last. Along the back Star Ranger and Desert Glow were the pilots from .Tanadees, Mask, Battlement, Clarinda, ' Te Kara, Te Monanui, Town Bank . * and Count Cavour.'

Star Ranger and Desert Glow led across the top from Battlement, Tanadees, To wm-Bank, Mask, Te Kara, Te .Monanui, Kamehameha and Count Cavour. At the turn for home Tanadees was close up to the leaders, followed by Te Monanui, Star Ranger, Battlement, Clarinda and Mask. Tanadees then took charge and going on won comfortably by three lengths from Count Cavoui’, who beat Te Monanui by three quarters of a length. Te Kara was fourth, then came Desert Glow, Battlement, Star Ranger, Clarinda, Mask, Town Bank. The winner is trained by J. McLaughlin, at Trentham. ‘ From the start I took up a nice position, fourth on the rail, and was satisfied to remain in behind Mask with Te Monanui on the outside of me. T remained there and noticed Star Ranger and Desert Glow move up to the front but still kept my position on the fence. With a round gone my mount was galloping along very easily and I felt confident he'd win. I was about third five furlongs from home, just in behind Star Ranger and Desert Glow. L then moved up.
