COMMUNAL OUTRAGE
LEADER MURDERED AT DELHI

DELHI, 20th Dec.
A dastardly communal outrage is reported. Swami Shradhandand, a wellknown leader, was assassinated by a Mohammedan, Abdul Rashid. Swami was abed convalescing, and bis servant allowed Rashid to enter on the pretext of discussing a religious point. When the servant was momentarily absent the visitor fired five shots at Swami’s bead and chest, instantly killing him. The servant, attempting to protect'the body) of his master, v/as seriously wounded. The police arrested the assailant. Delhi is intensely excited by the crime. All shops are closed. The crime will revive communal discord which recently showed signs of dying out. Strong forces of police are 'patrolling tiie streets. Minor disorders resulted, five Hindus and a Moslem being injured.
