IMMIGRATION LAWS DISCUSSED MODIFICATION PROPOSALS REJECTED (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian A N.Z. Cable Association.) NEW YORK, 12th Oct. After a healed debate the Federation of Labour Convention at Detroit to-day rejected two resolutions urging the modification of the,United States’ immigration laws to permit Hie admission of aliens seeking refuge fiom “political and religious persecution." The resolutions committee reported that resolutions were passed advocating the diplomatic recognition of Russia by tlie United States Government, expressing “lull agreement with President Cool id ge in holding that .American principles must he unbnrlcrcd" disapproving tlie proposed Labour commission of investigation to Russia, amt extending “Profound sympathy with the masses of people of Russia in moral, political and spiritual enslavement.'’ The com. mitteo stated: "We regard the Sovietregime ns the most unscrupulous, most anti-social, and most menacing institution of the whole world to day."
