BUSH FIRES
VAST AREA ABLAZE

This Day Bush fires which are raging in the vicinity of Brisbane, reached a climax when the city was encircled by liames. The smoke was so thick that the sun at times was almost obscured. Practically every range of hills and mountains within a radius .of fifty miles is ablaze.
In many places roads are impassable owing to smoke, heat and fallen trees. Settlers bad to fight hard to save their properties.
