HOMING PIGEONS
RACE FROM LYTTELTON The Nelson Homing Pigeon Club flew off a race from Lyltell'on last week-end an airline distance of 164 miles. The birds were liberated at 8.30 a.m. and they arrived in Nelson at 2.22 p.m. The weather was not favourable for fast Hying as cloudy and foggy conditions prevailed on the lino of flight thus reducing the birds visibility. Under the circumstances the race was quite successful and a fair velocity recorded. Four birds broke away from the others and homed some minutes before the main lot of birds, The race resulted : J. Winter's "Kamo-nui'*, 831 yards per minute, Ist. W. Simpson's "Grotesque", 829.9 yards per minutes, 2nd. H. Simpson's "Advance" 829.3 yards per minute, 3rd. (.'.. HaaseV, 'Manfred", 828 yards per minute. 4th. The club desire to thank Mr Frederick at i.yllellon for attending lo and liberating fhe birds. The club also held a. race from Wa ngaimi, bul the results are held in 'ibeyance until confirmation has been received from Wanganni as to actual time of libcnti m. During this ~nd races will be flown from Te Kuili, 271 miles for the fiist hamper North birds, and Wanganui for the second hamper North birds. ■/.
