LOCAL MATCHES SENIOR: Kiwi 5; Stoke 0. Waimai 2; Federal 0. JUNIOR: Kiwi 4; Wesley 1. Federal 1; Motueka 0. Y.M.C.A. 4; Waimai 0. LADIES’ GAMES Rewa 4; Brightwater 0. Riwaka 6; Ngaio 0. KIWI (5); STOKE (0) Superior combination woii the day for Kiwi in their match at the Reserve. From tlie point- of goals scored Kiwi have few rivals this season, and they again demonstrated thedr prowess in front of the net on Saturday, when they met and defeated Stoke by 5 goals to mil. H. and R. iWhitwell combined well in the forwards and again showed their skill in the circle, scoring two goals each. A. Toms added one. ' The Kiwi defence was very sound, N Whitwell, L. Condell and Busch letting very little past them. They were well backed up by Hawke and M. Toms, so much so that Batchelor, in goal, was not called upon to do anything. C. Burns again showed up on the right

wing, his centring lining well timed. Amos still hangs on. lie must centre earlier to play a good left wing game. The Stoke team did not seem to he able In get going at all. C. Dee, Slone and Allpurl, although putting in some good individual work, had little combination. The backs were too slow at doubling back. Oiling is improving and is ploying better this season. Black Is not a. good centre half. Ho would he better in his old position with Tirrcll as centre.

Messrs Kinzelt and Davidson ably controlled the game.

WAIMAI (2); FEDERAL (O',

This was a poor exhibition of hockey. The Federal team, playing short, with a- full team against them, put up a good fight. There was too much hit. it. and chase it stylo of play. To have good hockey, players must learn to look where they are hitting and give a pass so that the next man can take it. Tlie first, half ended with no score. It was not until well on in the second spell that Nightingale netted two good goals for Waimai. For Waimai Cason, Cummings, Archibald and Hockey were tho best hacks. Nightingale was the best forward. For Federal Gihlis was easily tlie best hack Tlie forwards were poor. Mr Kinzett refereed.
