(To the Editor) Sir,—We have read with interest in your issue of even date under the heading of "Fruit Control,” a reference to prices obtained for apples sent to South America. For the information of fruitgrowers we wish to state that Mr McKee’s Statement of prices is substantially correct for a shipment of 2813 cases of Otago apples which left New Zealand ori 20tii Apnl consigned to outagent, Mr G. A. Brougham;' Buenos, South America. Tin: prices returned to us were as under:— Delicious, gross 21s 2(1, c.o.f. 17s 6d, f.o.b. 13s Gd; Jonathans, Staepman Winesap, Cleopatra, Dunn’s, Rome Beauty, Spitzenberg, gross 12s 6d, c.i.f. 6s, f.o.b. 12s The account sales arc not yet to hand and prices may vary two or three pence either way on account of the conversion rate of the Argentine paper dollar, which we understand is worth about Is to-day. Wp might mention that as no refrigerated space was available to Otago shippers, the apples were shipped in general cargo space, lire cabled report stating that it arrived in excellent condition. On the 11th inst. we received a’ remittance for the net surplus together with cabled advice of amounts due to each shipper.
