AMUSIN'.; INTERLUDE IN COURT A defendant in a licensing prosecution was giving evidence at the Court 10-dav stating that he had been for a walk and called in at the hotel on a Sunday'night to see a friend who was a lodger there. The lodger had subsequently “shouted.” The Magistrate (Mr Maunsell): Did it surprise you that he (the lodger) shouted? ■ Witness: No. „ The Magistrate: You had a sort of suspicion that lie plight? Witness: Well, there is always the possibility. (Laughter).
