TRAFALGAR STREET TRAFFIC BRIDGE
FOUR TENDERS RECEIVED LOCAL FIRM SUCCESSFUL One of- the loan proposals carried somo months ago was that of £BOOO for the erection of a trailic bridge over the M'aitai River in Trafalgar Street. Four tenders were received at the Council meeting last! evening as follows Slowev, Timaru, £8991; W. Williamson, Christchurch, £7986; Robertson Bros, Nelson,- £8209/12/- • and Chamberlain and Stannard (Nelson) £7836/11/-. It was resolved that the lowest tender (Chamberlain and Stannard) be’ accepted. „ ■ ■ ...... Pleasure was expressed at the fact that a local firm had secured the contract. The Mayor said one of the -contracting firms had informed him that the plans and specifications were particularly clear. The bridge is to be finished -within 12 months. - " • The matter of a clerk of works was referred to the committee.
