CLUBS FOR WOMEN
BIG Y.W.C.A. CAMPAIGN "LONDON, June 4. Lord Forster and Mr Baldwin have interchanged letters on the subject of business women’s clubs. Lord Forster says that the strike precluded the use for propaganda purposes of Mr Baldwin’s remarks at the Y.W.C.A. meeting, held in February to launch the scheme, but the strike had pronouncedly demonstrated the value of such a club, the appeal for which must now ho postponed until the autumn. The plans provided for the erection of a central club at a cost of £200.000, of which amount Melbourne and other cities have contributed £72,000. Mr Baldwin, in his letter, said he deplored the postponement, and that he fervently hoped for the success of tho scheme.
