SUCCESS~OF NELSON FRUITGROWER In the • classes for dessert apples at the Palmei'ston North Show, Bisley Bros. (Nelson) gained five first awards, and' five seconds; They took first and second- places' in classes for Cox's Orange Pippin, Five Crown Or London Pippin and Jonathan, first for States-) man and Delicious, and Second place for Dougherty and Sturmer Pippin. E. Pete-s (Waipawa) carried off five first awards and three seconds. The first awards were those in classes for Red Winter Pearmain '.or Stark Stunner Pippin,- Northern .Spy, Rome Beauty and White Winter Pearmain. In tho open class of this competition, the second awards were in A.O. V. Pippins, Russet, and Adams Pearmain. Awards in other varieties were:—Cambridge or Stone Pippin: A. J.v Bale (Havelock Nortli), 1 and 2, A.O.V. Pippin: Mrs E. Blakeway (Christchurch), 1. Russet: (any variety): Mrs Blakeway (Golden) 1. Adams Pearmain: T. H. Owtram (Palmerston North), 1. Dougherty: A. J. Bale 1, for Rome Beauty. Delicious (an open class): A. J. Bale, 2, for Statesman;. T. H. Owtram, second iii the classes for culinary apples. A. J. Bale took first and second award for Washington and Reinette du Canada varieties, and second place for Ballarat and Rome Beauty. In the open class, Bisley Bros, were first in classes for Lprd Wolseley, Dnrin's Favourite or Ohinemuri, and F. Peters first in open class, with Stunners and Ballarat, and second for Lord Wolseley.
