• The monthly meeting of the Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in the Methodist, Hall on Tuesday, .Tune Bth. Miss Atkinson presided. After the usual devotions, members stood ami repeated the union pledge. A very cordial vote of thanks was passed to Miss Williams, a "Y" member, for undertaking the duties of W. R. agent. Correspondence was read from tho Dominion secretary, calling attention to the resolutions passed at convention in regard to home meetings, scientific temperance, facts relating to action of alcohol, repeating pledge at all meetings and appeal to the women of churches. The "White Ribon" editor had sent over an excellent paper to bo read and tliis proved so interesting that all present promised to do their best to secure more' subscribers to the oflieial organ of the W.C.T.U. Mrs Peryman would be visiting Nelson in the latter half of July .and it was hoped to give all members an opportunity of meeting her.

It was announced that arrangements had been made to hold the district vention in Richmond on Thursday, September Bth, the Dominion president, Mrs T. E. Taylor, would attend and a public meeting would be held in town on Wednesday, September 7th. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to the Prime Minister for the stand he bad taken against gambling and lotteries.

Enquiries were made for sick members and the meeting closed with the Benediction.
