SIR HENRY JONES

ARRIVAL IN NELSON INQUIRY INTO EXTENSION OP CANNING INDUSTRY Sir Henry Jones, of Hobart, head of the firm of Henry Jones Co-operative Ltd., which recently purchased a controlling interest in tlie "K"_ Factory, arrived in Nelson this morning. Sir Henry is accompanied by Messrs T. A. Boyce, T. B. Nossiter, A. W. Palfreyman and W. F. Foster (directors), and Mr Spiers, who was the company's representative in Nelson during the negotiations for the purchase of the "K" interests. This forenoon Sir Henry Jones and party inspected the "K" factory; and this afternoon motored through a portion of the district to ascertain its possibilities for fruit growing expansion in connection witlhi the canning, side of the firm's activities. It is interesting to note that a close personal friendship of many years' standing existed between Sir lleiirv Jones and the late Mr S .Kirkpatrick. But for this it was quite probable that Sir Henry Jones's firm would have extended their operations-to New Zealand years ago, as they have done in other countries. Sir Henry's regret is that his old friend has passed away and that their long friendshin could not be renewed on his visit to Nelson,

Seen by a Mail representative, Sir Henry said that at present, he had nothing to say as to the development of the "K" factory: but before he left Nelson he would be pleased to accord tm interview.

The party leaves on Monday night for Napier.
