AUCKLAND POINT SCHOOL

AN UP-TO-DATE STRUCTURE

PROGRESS OF CONSTRUCTION WORK

Good progress is being made witli the work of erecting the new ' school at Auckland Point. The brickwork has now reached the top of the lower storey and shortly, when the second storey is added, it will he possible to gain a good idea of the nature of the very fine school that is to be provided. It will certainly improve the approach to the town and will be the most up-to-date school in the district. Special attention hasi been paid to lighting and heating. All the rooms face the front road, the corridors being confined to the bark portion. An important addition are the drying rooms. The heating is by modern methods and this facilitates the provisoti of such- conveniences. The school, as is well known, will be a mixed school taking boys and girls it]) to the sixth standard. Out-side separate shelter sheds have been provided and the school throughout is to he fitted with the latest appliances. At. one end provision has been made to throw two elass rooms into one to take the place of an assembly hall. This will be a great asset to the school.

The grounds will require a good deal of attention and there will be plenty of scope for a live school committee. The need additional ground towards the port is most apparent.
