ROUGH TRIP
yCIIOON EL HOLM WOOD (United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH. April .'!. The schooner Holm wood, which arrived on Thursday afternoon after a i!'2 days' pasage from Newcastle, had an extremely rough trip, and on Wednesday, with tattered sails, was caught in tlie surf at Farewell Spit. A mountainous sea covered her deck with sand and shells. The truss of the i'oreyard was carried away, followed by the jaws of the main gall'. The second mate. Mr Whit ton. was injured by flying timber. A change of wind at the critical moment enabled the vessel to regain the open sea.
