Commonwealth's share of losses to over ten millions. Nearly 36.000 returned soldiers have been settled -on.the land at a total cost of over L'53.000.000. In many eases difliciillies faced tlies’e settlers, hut there was sound reason for the belief that under this scheme substantial benefits wuii.d ultimately accrue both to soldiers and Australia.
