CHARGE OF BIGAMY
A J.P. PLEADS GUILTY

CHRISTCHURCH This Day
John George Burgess, 58, builder, and a Justice of the Peace, pleaded guilty this morning to a charge that at Christchurch, on May 7th, being married to Jessie Crusbie Kailalian at Ashburton in 1887, did go through a form of marriage with Nevenia Alartha Robertson, thereby committing bigamy. It was stated that accused had been going under the name of Thomas recently. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
