BRIDGE 50000 YEARS OLD
UNEARTHED IN GERMAN MINE
(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Sun Cable.) BERLIN. July 12. A perfectly preserved oaken footbridge, forty yards long, consisting of planed planks fastened with oaken clamps and constructed across a marshy river bed, was unearthed in a mine shaft at Dortmund. Archaeologists are of opinion that it is 50,000 years old. It is the most important prehistoric discovery for years and proves the intelligence and skill of the icemen, whose on.y implements were mammoths’ teeth.
