AUCKLAND, This Day
Archbishop Averill, speaking at a meeting of the Church of England’s Men’s Society, said he did not think the Hill for the introduction of Bible study in State schools would go through the House. He added : “In the event- of its being defeated it seems to me advisable to press for a referendum*” Eater he remarked: "Although 1 am not usually a. pessimist 1 am not very optimistic this tithe owing'to the tactlessness of- so-called - friends’.” • •
