■. - MONTHLY MEETING Tho monthly meeting of the Nelson A. and P. Association was held at Richmond on Saturday evening. There were present: Messrs E. Smallhone (President, in the' chair), A. E. Max. F. C. Rage. Godfrey Best, John Bigger. 11. Croucher, James Ching. J. H. Curnow, C. H. Ching, J. W. Hagen, John Hagen, A. Jeliymao,' F. Lusty, Junr., S. J. Litchfield, W. 11. Mav, Will. Martin, 11. J. Palmer. E. W. Win, E. Wratten. Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Alessrs Hunt and Chisnall. The following new members were elected : Messrs A. Wilkinson (Stanley Brook), J. Hillyard (Bright water), E. Savage, Doloev and A. Roeske (Richmond), and E. Murkett (Brightwater). The chairman said he had waited on the stationmastei-in-charge re altering the stock train from Tuesday to Wednesday in order that the Show dates might be altered from Wednesday to Thursday. He was informed that this | would entail considerable alteration in ! tin' timetable and unless the Association | was prepared to guarantee a full train, j The matter had been referred to the 1 Finance Committee and it was decided to ddhere to the usual days—Tuesday and Wednesday. i It was resolved that the Hereford Cup 1 be handed to Mr Geo. Macmahon, he having had his name inscribed on it. Air J. Biggar said it would be a- good tiling if they offered a. prize to tiie member proposing the most new members. On the motion of Air F. C. Page, sec- : ended b vAIr J. Biggar, it was resolevff that the member pi..posing tiie largest number of financial members from now to tho date of the Show be given his member's ticket free. Before the motion was put, the secrej tary said it would be necessary Mr James Ching suggested that the guessing competitions be extended. One. thing was guessing the weight of a clip, also the live weight of sheep. He would propose a motion at the next meeting of the Committee. Mr Hayes Croucher offered to weigh the bullocks. If there were any doubts as to what the machine would do he would weigh his hat or anyone rise's hat.

Tho chairman said it might ho well to discuss the suggestion straight away. Mr Cuing said he was only an amateur and would like suggestions from his fellow members. , Mr C. 11. Ching said the live weight j guessing would prove most- interesting, j Air Curnow said it would be wise if the sheep were not weighed until after j the competition had closed. , Mr A. E. Alax said the suggestion was a go-od one, and he would present a sheep, provided it was weighed after the competition, ns Air Curnow said this would remove all possibility of suspicion. 'The secretary said that, nearly every I year there was trouble owing to people ' putting the tickets in the. wrong boxes. After further discussion, Air .Max proposed that the. first prize be two -miiicas and a second prize of one. guinea, the sheep to he sold and the proceeds to go to the Association.
