Dr. Pritchard, a septuagenarian Canadian. invented a machine whereby a method of retting ilax can be carried out in five or six hums instead of six weeks, eliminating labour, and probably uiak irig linen as eheap as cotton. J lie machine lulls and dries the flax, freeing the straw and then washes it in a soap solution.
