PERMANENT STAFF APPLICATIONS are invited from N.C.O.’s of the Territorial Force holding rank not lower than Sergeant, and from ex-Warrant Officers and Norn Commissioned Officers (of rank not lowe> than Sergeant) of the British Army, and the N.Z.E.F., to fill seven vacancies in writing to Command Headquarters at the N.Z. Permanent Staff.

Applications, with copies of credentials attached, should be submitted ira writing to Command Headquarters at. Auckland, Palmerston North and Christchurch, by 16th March. Selected applicants to the number of from 15 to 20-will be required to attend a Course of Instruction at Trentham, beginning on 15'tli April. Tlie cost of travelling and out-of-poc.ket expenses will be borne by the Defence Department and pay will be granted from the date of leaving their homes at the rate laid down for staff Sergeant. -“■From these applicants a final selection will be made after 'ten days im camp.

Successful applicants will be posied to the N.Z. Permanent Staff in the .rank of Staff Sergeant on probation, and, if they are favourably reported on, will be confirmed in the appointment at the end of one year. Appointments will be' for a term of 5 years, subject to re-engage-ment in terms of 5 years up to the age of 55 years.

They may be required to serve anywhere in New Zealand. Removal expenses to such station will be a charge against tile Department. The pay of Staff Sergeant is: Single man, £245 per annum; married man £275 per annum. A Staff Sergeant Is eligible for promotion after three years’ service on passing; the prescribed examination.
