NELSON CLUB
Monday and Tuesday afternoons saw a big crowd of bowlers, but the games were entirely spoilt on the latter day by raip again setting in. . The whole of the Hawke’s Bay cricketers, with sorgo of the Nelson .team, put in an appearance and were entertained by the; Club; , Tlpey-were accompanied by’ Mr H. Atjnore, M.P., arid Mr W. Lock, Mayor. ’ Some played bowls for the. first time in their_ lives. Others . passed a pleasant hour in the pavilion playing billiards. Afternoon .tea was served by All’s C. Milner, assisted by Miss Ivy Bennett. Before dispersing, Mr Teniperton, the captain of team, in, .the club-house, thanked the Nelson Bowling Club for : .their kindness in entertaining them, • Mr G. Kemp, president, in. replying, said they were pleased to have had the opportunity* Three cheers were _ given for the visitors and the ladies.
The. rink tournament commences at 9 o’clock to-morrow (Thursday) morning. and. if fine, should see both greepa fulj of bowlers.
