BOATING DISASTER
* FIVE PEOPLE DROWNED (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association/ MELBOURNE, Dec. 29. Lake Nagarabie, , near ils junction with tho Goulburn River, was t'he scene of a shocking tragedy when a boat containing seven members of a. picnic party capsized, and five were drowned. Tho deceased are John Edward Mitchell, his yjife, Elizabeth Mitchell, his son Edward, Gwendoline Em-rest, and Emily Forrest. A southerly breezo made the water rather rough, and some of the party decided to alter their positions in the boat, and this resulted in it capsizing. Only one of the party, Ruby Ricardo, was able to swim. She reached the shore and gave the alarm. When helpers arrived, it was found that tho boat, to which Miss Duncan, the only other person saved, had clung, had drifted ashore. Three of the bodies have been recovered. J
