EMPIRE TO-NIGHT “THE SELF-MADE WIFE”
A remarkable insight into the don-.es-tic controversy that can arise _over the simple matter of living in a New York mansion with a million dollars to spend is offered in “The Self-Made V* he. '.the theme of the play is woven around the experiences of a young married couple who were getting along very well ■with beef stew and with wearing apparel of gingham and denim, but who quarreled over the menu and the proper dress when they could afford the finest in the land. The story was written as a serial for the Saturday Evening 1 ost and was later published as a novel. Elizabeth Alexander, popular fictiomst and playwright is the author of the story, .lack Dillon, who directed Mary Pickford in “Suds” and who has directed many other popular screen plays, directed the filming of “The Self-Made Wife.”
