DROWNED IN HUTT RIVER
ON WAY TO SYDNEY FOR HOLIDAY

WELLINGTON, This Day
Frederick Charlton Mills, a member of the firm of F. R. Mills and Co., Invercargill, was drowned in the Hutb River last evening. Deceased and a friend named Smith arrived here vesterdav on the way to Sydney for. a ■holiday. They went for a car drive into the country. The car was stopped on, the road near; a high part of the river bank \o allow Mr Mills to get put and down the bank, 'which was steep and dangerous. Those in the car heard a fall ,and. a splash and presumed he * tripped over the'remains of a wire fence.- Mir Smith tried to <xo down, but was unable to do so. He say the body floating down stream. At the inquest a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. The Coroner drew attention to the dangerous condition of -.16 road - through the fence being down. .. -■:■"
