REMARKABLE ESCAPE

A three-yoar-old boy named Reynolds. whose parents reside in Ada street, Palmerston North, had a remarkable escape from death, the prompt and effective action of a motoribns dri.evr preventing a tragedy. ’The little fellow was in town, and •witliout apparently looking where ho •was going he scampered across the road right i'u front of the Rongotea foils. The front portion of the vehicle passed over him. Ho endeavoured to crawl out before the back wheelsreached him, but in the meantime the driver had applied the brakes hard, pulling the bus up with a sudden jar. One of the rear, wheels just reached the child j in fact ho was -being pinched, and another inch would have crushed hint.
