MASTERTON, This Day.
Through fouling a strong current in fording the Waingawa river, James Fouhy, carting contractor, of Masterton, had i narrow escape from death. Fouhy was carting metal from the river and attempted to ford to the town side through the usual outlet. Three powerful horses were attached to the dray, hut the velocity of the current tossed the dray completely over. Fouhy was thrown under the vehicle and had. it not been for the tail, board being broken bis escape would have been impossible, as the dray was securely anchored. The horses were drowned.
