AEROPLANE MISHAPS AT CHRISTCHURCH

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day

This morning Lieut. F. C. Ewen, of Hamilton, was flying over Christchurch suburbs and made a forced landing iii an Avrn. The wing of tlio machine touched a wire fence and the machine crashed. The propeller was broken, the undercarriage smashed,* and a wing broken. The aviator was unhurt. A relief machine landed a mechanic and when starting to return to the aerodrome made another landing in an adjoining paddock bill struck a gorse fence and bad to land quickly. The strain imposed broke the shock absorber, but otherwise there was no damage.
