SENTENCE ON VAQUIER
APPEALS FOR REPRIEVE (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) '‘Australian snd'N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, July 30. M. Herriot has written In Mr Henderson appealing lor the life of Vaquier. Petitions for reprieve are being opened. Mr Ben Turner, Commoner, writing in the Daily Herald, says: “The doubts and dangers surrounding the case make me urge (lie Home Secretary not to hang Vaquier.” The Daily Herald, supporting (he appeal, affirms that in the neighbourhood where the crime w)is committed there is widespread belief that the whole facts were not disclosed and emphasises the Frenchman’s disadvantage in defence owing to ignorance of the English language.
