DAYLIGHT SAVING

(To t.ho Editor ) Sir, —I noticed with pleasure in the .Keening Post of tho lGtli inst., that a representative deputation supported ■by local bodies, Chambers of Commerce, employers and industrial organisations, farmers, sports bodies, and others, was to wait on the Prime and urge Government support to a measure which will provide for the adoption of summer time in IS'ew Zealand in a similar manner to that which has been in vogue in the United Kingdom for the past ton years. Having experienced the benefits of daylight saving during.-my residence in England for six years, I sincerely hope the measure will be enthusiastically supported by responsible bodies in Nelson C ity and district. The extra hour daylight per day saved Inputting the clock on one hour means much to 11io general health of the community, thus enabling many, who are now denied the privilege, to enjoy fresh air and healthy out-door exorcise. By all work ceasing locally at 4 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. as at present it means that full advantage can be taken of Nelson’s glorious summer evenings.—I am, etc., E. K

MILNER

(A Full report of the proceedings of the deputation is published in this issue.)
