TAXI MURDER

LONDON, Nov. 20. The jury at the. inquest on Mrs Howard returned a verdict of wilful murder against Iggulden. Tlie Registrar of Marriages gave evidence that- deceased,"on 31st- October, in the name of Ireland, gave notice that she intended marrying Norman Haslet t. She produced papers showing that her husband divorced her. The decree ivas made absolute on 22nd January. Both parties, must have resided in England when the divorce was granted. The police read Iggulden’s voluntary statelnent, which showed that he met the woman through an advertisement, eight weeks ago. He continued 1 to visit the woman, of whom lie became fonci. He learned that she married Ireland :n New Zealand when she was 19 and that she had been most unhappy with him. Her husband divorced her. Describing the woman's death, Iggulden said that when she entered the taxi the woman said repeatedly: “I would be happy to die how ! if the children were here.” He was cuddling and kissing her when he seemed to lose control of himself. 1 “I took a razor from inv pocket, and cut her throat with one slash. 1 then realised the seriousness of my deed and told the driver to go to the nearest police'station'.”
