TERRIFIC EXPLOSION
THREE MEN KILLED (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association) MELBOURNE, Nov. 20 A terrific e&'pilbsibn’ occurred in the Australian Explosive Company s works in Deer Park resulting in the death of Christopher. Valla, P. Askew, and Fred Inglis. The explosion occurred in the mixing room where a large quantity of gelignite was being handled. The cause is unknown. Valla' and Askew Were blown to pieces and Inglis was so terribly injured that he died without speaking. • - > : The force of explosion was such that it shattered many windows within a half-mile ladius The sound was heard miles away. An employee, Mounsey, working close to the scene of the explosion. nulled in before the smoke cleared, to the assistance of Jnglis, who, however, was beyond aid. Ihe mining house and tons of earth which surrounded it as a protection were completely blown away, leaving a deep lioje.
