SCULLING
With; "The Day" close at hand increasing public interest is manifest in all directions., There was a very gratifying attendance of guarantors at a meeting held on Tuesday night, when much, important business was disposed of. / •
A /necessary adjustment in the time set for the race was made, whilst a ship's boat race has been reluctantly eliminated from the programme owing to lack of sufficient time for holding that event. The sculling race is now set for half past three. This alteration has been effected in order that a bigger volume of water on the course might be availed of. This adjustment meets with the approval of both contestants.
The motor launch race will commence at half past one on a course of approximately eight miles. The Sea Scouts race will commence at half past two. Mr Wheejer and his Sea Scouts have now received the necessary wireless permit and spectators will be kept apprised of the positions of the scullers on the three mile course as the race progresses. Scows and, if necessary, motor launches will transport spectators to and from the '"Boulder Bank grandstand. The pojjce will co-operate with the committee in patrolling the harbour, whilst Captain Collins, the Harbourmaster, who is renderinee every assistance on behalf of the Harbour Board, will 'watch the interests of that body.
As| previously notified, various vantage points on the Port Hills'are being secured by the. committee as a large 'gate" is essential in the interests of those progressive citiienr. who have rendered monetai-y assistance and thereby made, it possible to have such an important contest decided on a Nelson course. Much good must result from the impetus thus given to aquatic sport, whilst the city advertising features cannot be overlooked.
