BEAUTIFUL NELSON
(To 'ice Editor)
Sir, —Prior to my departure from Nelson, I would like to add my expressions of appreciation regarding your beautiful little city and wonderful climate to tho many already given. After an absence of nearly 3u years from Nelson, it has been my privilege to spend a few weeks hero with' relatives and old friends, and T am simply amazed at tho lovely weather and beauty of your town. True, you are rather behindhand, in regard to trams, etc., also shipping facilities beyond Wellington, which seems to be diverting the products of even X9 U 1" own baysido ports. But ono thing they cannot filch, and that is your weather. In Australia, Melbourne is considered a salubrious climate, but I can testify that Nelson is 100 per cent better in that respect. I also notice indications of solid prosperity on every hand here, far exceeding that of much larger cities, and, although your town has not grown with tho same rapidity as other centres, in every direc-t-on there is a spirit of cheerful confidence, which compels one to believe that Nelson (the garden of New Zealand) and ono of the most beautiful cities in tho work!, will take its place amongst the finest cities in the Commonwealth. On the trip across from Melbourne, some weeks* ago, I asked many Now Zealanders whether they had ever visited Nelson, and was sur-
prised at the very few on board *.')>o know anything about it. But I ani sure that thousands from other parts of New Zealand would spend their holidays hero if they only knew of its atti actions. I hope, some day in the neaT future, to return to your beautiful little city . I am, etc, GEORGE CORLETT. Nelson 10/4/28.
