FASCISTI FORCES
TO .BECOME MILITIA (By ' Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian & N.Z, Cable Association.) ROME, Dec. 21. The Government decided to transform the FasCisti' forces into militia for national defence under Mussolini’s direction. The force will be on a voluntary basis, the men receiving pay only after mobilisation. Local guards and carabineers will be gi'eatly reduced. The estimated cost of the militia is 12,000,000 lire annually, compared with > a milliard dire for guards and carabineers. A number of volunteers will be asked to serve as regulars’ immediately, and the remainder will-be placed on the reserve.
