Admiral Tangiguehi, commanding the visiting Japanese scfhadron, with a detachment of Japanese, participated. General Smuts, speaking at Pretoria, stressed the need for courage to accomplish the task of restoring the world's peace. He appealed to all wliu participated in the war to join the Empire Service League and maintain the spirit of comradeship and partnership.
