Amateur athletics was revived in Nelson on Wednesday evening at the Institute rooms, where a very enthusiastic meeting decided to form an athletic club to be known as the Nelson Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club. The following officers were elected : Patron, Mr 11. 11. Duncan; President, Mr C R. Fell: Vice-Presidents. Messrs IT. Atmore. M.l\, C. 11. Broad, C. S. Crcsswell. ,1. . .Yiorccr, and Co. Hume; hon. secretary, IT. (.'. Fletcher, treasurer. It./ Gilbert. Executive committee, Messrs H Chapman, II Bennett, A Dav. W. Carrol Harley, F. J. McCabe, ll.'Saunders, W. Watson. N. Vercoe, and 0. (!. McQuarrie. Hon. auditor, E. R. Xeale.
It is proposed to hold evening meet ings, also to hold a sports day at, Car nival time.
