CONCERT AT STOKE
IN AID OF WAR MEMORIAL A very enjoyable concert was held in the Stoke Hall last evening in aid of the war memorial. A full and enthusiastic house was a pleasing tribute to those who had come from town to give their services. The following items were given; Miss H. Taylor, pianoforte solo; Mr Km - , song, ‘’When the Ebb Tide Flows”; Miss Arnold, song, “Obstination” ; Miss Sowman, recitation, ‘‘Jones Minor”; Mr C. Moody, song, ‘‘.l’ve Forgot the Number of My House,'’; little Ella Robertson, song, “Dream Man’s Train” ; Mr T. Donnelley, dance and several humorous stories; Miss Arnold, song, “Icis Bar” ; Mr Kerr, song, ‘‘lsland of Dreams” ; Mr T. Donnelley, dialogue and dance; Ella Robertson, song, “Pretty Kitty Kelly” ; Mr Moody, song, “Glasgow Belongs to Me,” All the items were loudly encored. After the programme was finished, Mr Gilbert thanked those who had turned out to assist the cause for which the concert was held and thanked the performers who had, lie felt sure, given the audience their money’s worth. “God Save the King” was then sung, after which supper was provided to the performers ’ by the ladies’ committee and was much "appreciated. This terminated a, very enjoyable evening.
