(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian & N.Z. .Cable Association.) LONDON, Oct. 10. The P. and 0. credit balance is £7,444,901; brought forward, £lOl,799. The report states that the 'Egypt’s captain, who had been all his life .in the company’s service with an unblemished record and without accident, had voluntarily resigned, and had been granted the maximum pension under the company’s rules. It is expected the Mongolia will be delivered early in the spring, the Mooltan in June, and the Maloja in August. The directors aro preparing plans for several new mail steamers, and will invite tenders as soon as the time appears favourable. There had been a slight improvement in outward trade, but It was still very poor. Homeward trade was greatly bound up with outward. Current rates to a great extent were uuremunerative. Passenger trade was satisfactory, every ward vessel being fully booked.
