At the last meeting of the Nelson Schools Committees Association, members spoke appreciatively of the work | done by the secretary (Mr Hollis Hill, | of Brightwater) and’it was unanimously ! resolved to ask him to consent to nomination for a seat on the Education Board at the forthcoming election. Mr Hill, in reply, stated that he did the work for the love of it, and if members thought he would be of any us© on the Board he was willing to try. It was resolved to nominate Mr Hill as a candidate for the East ward, and to circularise committees in support of his candidature. Mr Hugh Cassidy, head of a well known West Coast coaching firm, died this morning at Springfield, says our Christchurch correspondent. He had a stroke on Tuesday last and _ never rallied. He was aged 83. He will he 1 buried at Hokitika.
